get the whole rear brake assy. it would be less work to take the whole trailing arm/axle and all. this will give you the swaybar mounts!

and for the front, get the lower control arms at leasyt, as well as the knuckle.

a modified control arm can be substituted, impreza knuckles and struts can be substituted(you lose the aprking brake), but the rear 5 lug hub is the golden egg. Those are the only ting that cannot be sugstituted, and in the right market, those hubs alone are worth 150-200 bucks

ok, so i don't need the front struts from the XT6? i was told i can have all of it for $100.00 i was gonna brag front struts control arms A arms knuckles axles and sway bar. rear was gonna get the arms knuckles sway bar and breaks front and rear

Are the imprezza struts and knuckles prefered? there is a imp sitting less than 10 feet from the XT6... guy is letting stuff go really cheap i might grab some of that stuff as well.

you dont need them if you buy new impreza or already have. but if you are there, take as much as you can! I am just stating the bare minimum you would need if you were limited.

get the instrument bezel as it is worth 100 bucks on the xt boards. you have to remove the knockout plug in the clock and remove the screw, to get the radio out, and then get the bezel off. If you break it, then you know why everyone has a 100 bucks for a non broken one

GC is a reference to the first gen imprez 1993-1999, and even the bugeye impreza after 2000 are the same platform. I think the 8 refers to turbo coupes, which we did not get in the USA.

Try dirtyimpreza.com for that particular info.

The XT6 was sort of an engineering bridge between the old ea platfroms and the up and coming legacy platform, with the orientation of the throttle body, the mounting of the pitch bar, and the front hubs and macpherson strut setup, and a few other oddities.

technically:

G = Impreza

C = first gen ('93-'01 for the impreza) sedan

8 = 2.0l turbo

But GC or GC8 is commonly used to refer to any first-gen impreza.

BUT, any EJ front setup will work with a 5-lug swap.

And the EJ stuff is much better. better strut options, MUCH better brake options, the tie-rod tabs on the knuckles are in a slightly different spot, so the tie rods are shorter, which helps prevent bump-steer.

But yes, the XT6 stuff will work. It will (assuming it's AWD....) have air-suspension, which won't be useful to you. but the knuckles and brakes will work (and allow you to keep the front ebrake).

Sedan? So the impreza wagon stuff wouldn't work? Anything from the rear if impreza stuff work?

I acculy have one more question, What axles do i need? i have the RX trans so will i need the XT6 axles or the impreza axles? and if i use the impreza knucklesand rotors will the XT axles even work? The XT6 is an awd automatic if that matters. and i belive the imp has a 2.5, i could be wrong tho.

What about legacy knuckles and struts how do they stack up? And I have a choice in tranny's, if I'm going to change my tranny what would be a better choice, legacy 5-speed or impreza 5 speed? Both are awd

RX trans has 25 spline, so you won't have an issue there. Just match them to the outer knuckles, and you're set.

Legacy = EJ. Yes.

going to have to give more info on the trans. They'll probably be pretty similar, but depending on year and motor will have different ratios and clutch types.

Would outback struts and knuckles work? 99 outback legacy...

Work? yes. work well? probably not. As mentioned, the struts are taller in an outback.

those transmissions are probably virtually the same. The final drive may be different though. I would pick the one that had the final drive ratio that you want and of course get the diff to match. probably 4.1 but could be 3.9 usually the outbacks had the 4.4

i also found 2 GL-10's with rear disk breaks, can get them for $50.00 a set. (backing plates,rotors and calipers) if anyone one is interested in them i can pull em and ship.

Now go out and bolt everything in. The only issue you might run into will be where the lower control arm bolts to the crossmember. I've had to drill the hole in the crossmember out bigger (I used a 1/2" bit I think) then use the smaller bolt with washers on the outside of the crossmember and make sure the control arm is pulled out as far as it'll go before bolting it down tight. I usually do it with the bolts loosely bolted in, then put the car on ramps after the rest of the suspension is in and then snug them down.

You are going to have to hybrid the trans mounts to fit. The rear part is too wide. You can swap the rx mounts and have 2 mount sets.

I just took pictures of my xt6 swap with the trans mount, you can see it here once i upload the pics: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=119353&highlight=runabout

I would absolutly love to see those pictures for sure, but im not to worried about it not fiting. Ive done alot of custom tranny and T-case mounts in the past and i have alot of steel laying around. Just bust out the torch and welder and have some fun :)
