torxxx
well my car decided to be a POS today. Went to start it this morning, batt was 1/2 dead.. not enough to start it.. I was blocked in so I used my starter to back out of my parking spot so I could get jumped.. Get someone to jump me, massive sparks flew as we hooked up the jumper cables.. Blew my fuseable link. Pulled the batt and the starter to get them both tested.. walked and carried the battery 3 blocks to napa. Bad Batt.. Carried the new one back got everything put back together, new fuseable link. Got my car started. Now my heater blower doesnt turn on. So I goto the JY and get a new motor, new switch and new relays. Tried all of them. STILL NO blower motor turning on. I am at the end of my ideas on what else could be messed up. I ended up wiring the blower through my old fog lights switch because I was tired of standing outside at 0 F (keep in mind I've been standing outside since 8 am this mornign working on my car) what part is gonna break this next time I jump in the sooby..!?!?!?! torxxx
heartless - I checked everything. heheh I've learned to check fuses after something like this the year I got the car. I just hope nothing goes wrong tommorow. spending too much time on that car lately
bushbasher
maybe the resistor pack blew. Usually the first 2 go, and the motor won't turn on until you set it to 3 or 4, but maybe all 4 settings went? But wouldn't the fourth setting be straight thru without a resistor? Anyways, something else to check out maybe.
torxxx
resistor is fine. I must have smoked a wire somewhere in the bundle. Anyone know how far up into the dash the green and blue wires thats plug directly into the heater motor go? The plug went out on the heater end about a month ago and I'm wondering the other end connector went out finally. sucks being -25 F out and not having any heat
WJM
You will ahve these things sometimes. Ive learned that the EA82 subes will be tempermental with you....like my GL-10, it sat for 7 years, and it didnt like that, so it took it all out on me. Waterpump, head gaskets, oil leaks, many many things...and not all at the same time, but once thing after another....then, ultimately, a rod bearing. After re-resurecting...axles...clutch issues, radiator. Finally, the AWD conversion came along and she was fine for about 6 months. Now, some kind of issue with cylider #1. The RX had all kinds of issues. The DL...its spit some intake gaskets out at me...got really worn out struts/shocks....otherwise, im giving it some TLC and Delta cams right now. Shoudl be running in a hour or 3.... One tihng Ive learned...be patient, and take things one at a time as the car throw them at you. If you fix it right, it will like you better and wont be as troublesome with you.

torxxx
no I didnt jump it backwards..... red = positive black = negative. The guy at napa tested my battery and told me what was wrong. the battery is several years old, and I have jump starter over 20 cars with it including a power stroke diesel. The plates collapsed in the battery. Thats why it was arcing. I melted the temporary switch I rigged up last right, so I rewired the fan. The hotwire runs through a 15 watt fuse and then the switch is a 50 amp toggle. The toggle is put in down my D/R level. Nice to have heat again
archemitis
sparks dont fly unless something is wierd, sounds like the jumpstart was backwards. and if it was enough to move the car... why wouldt it start the car? there a bar near your house?
