Steering Wheel Adapter Questions - 88 GL-10 Wagon

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a steering hub adapter for my 88 gl-10 wagon. i tried looking for a MOMO 7303, but they are no where to be found.

i came across this thread about a guy with a loyale that put an aus. adapter on.

LINK - ( http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=108282&highlight=custom+steering+wheel )

im not sure, but I think the loyale and 85-89 GL splines are different. yea?

The website he recomended showed a "SAAS ® SPECIALISED BOSS KIT SPORTS STEERING WHEEL ADAPTER HUBS" for these subaru's:

BRUMBY -all

IMPREZA WRX (no cruise) 1994-99

LEONE 1979-1984

L SERIES 1985-1993

SPORTSWAGON 1985-1993

Are any of these my 88 wagon?

Does the L series mean GL's and DL's?

Does L series or SportsWagon mean my 88 GL wagon?

I have read that the impreza hubs will work. According to your listings, thiose would all fit the same.

the 85-89 listing would regard the hatchback and brat.

l series 85-93 would cover all dl/gl/loyale/rx

SPORTSWAGON 85-93 is most likely the turbo gl, gl10-, and loyale

sorry for digging up an old thread, but did you ever get an adapter from those guys? or has anyone ever used one of these?

I just priced it with shipping its approx. $110/us shipped to my zip code.

wondering if anyone has confirmation that they fit/exist...

Thanks

Ben

Impreza's i believe have the same spline, but the horn is different.

Do what I did: get an EA82 wheel from the junkyard for a few bucks, cut out the hub, weld up a bracket for your wheel's pattern. Helluva lot cheaper. And the last time I bought a steer wheel adapter, it was so poorly made it broke while I was installing it. Better that it break then than while I'm in the middle of a big drift. :D

I thought about doing that, do you have any pics of your setup?

Thanks,

Just buy the SAAS boss! Yes they fit, yes they are good quality and they even fit both 6 hole steering wheels (Momo or Nardi hole pattern).

They're solid metal castings too, not like those cheap pressed metal adapters with the rubber covers you see on eBay all the time.

You really cannot go wrong... (And yes I have used three different SAAS bosses - '78 wagon, '87 RX sedan and even an Impreza at one stage).

i did the same to fit my SAAS wheel from oz onto my Brat

cut the centre out of an old steering wheel, welded on some thick pipe(shelby tube), then drilled and tapped holes to mount the wheel, back cover is made from the top of a cool-aid can.....hey it looks like a bought one..

don't have a more detailed pic sorry

i can agree with the quality/fit of the SAAS product have used several on different cars in oz, the wheels and the boss kits are good stuff

Don't have any pics of the one in question, it was for my Eagle Talon and not my sooby. I've got it lying around here somewhere, I'll try and find it.

It wasn't very pretty, as it was off of a Dodge Colt Vista and still had the plastic shroud for that vehicle. The trick was getting everything centered. I still had the existing boss bracket from the car it came off of (my '82 Trans Am), so I just lined everything up, drilled holes to bolt the bracket to the Colt steering hub, and called it good. Never did get the horn working, didn't really matter when you can't hear the horn over the exhaust anyway.
