Rear Carrier Bearing?

Recommended Posts

So I got a rear carrier bearing that needs replaced. A couple of questions...

-How much can a expect to pay for one?

-How much labor is involved in removing it?

-Where can I get one in Northern Colorado?

-Can I just take it off and just lose 4wd until I get the money for it. Can I drive -the car without it? I haven't looked at what it does yet...

Thanks everyone!

So I got a rear carrier bearing that needs replaced. A couple of questions...

-How much can a expect to pay for one? can't buy one unless you go to a bearing house

-How much labor is involved in removing it?not much, but you'll want a press

-Where can I get one in Northern Colorado?no idea

jus t in case you have it wrong, the carrier bearing is holding the driveshaft up to the middle of the car."carrying" the driveshaft...

and it is simply the carrier bearing. To have a "rear" , i would think you would have to have two.

most people just replace the driveshaft.there is not an off the shelf replacement bearing option for our cars at the big parts houses.

but, if you take it apart, and take it to a bearing house that can measure it, it could happen.

but you gotta get it off of there.

cheers, b

Thanks everyone!

but, most of all...what leads you to think its a carrier bearing?
