Steveman09
Hey guys, I just stumbled onto this site and wow I must say I'm impressed with the MOD's being done to the old SUUBIE!!!!!! Rock on! Anyhow I have 2 Suubie's of my own : 87 GL-10 Sedan Turbo 3AT <--my fav 92 Loyale Sedan 5-speed I'm very interested in doing some MOD's to the Turbo after reading all the stuff on this site! I just removed the stock muffler today but I barly notice any sound difference and its not loud at all???? Is there a secondary muffler? Also I was reading about the MBC and Fuel Cut Problems, and some MOD to fix the fuel cut, can somone point me in the right direction? I wanna run around 10-12psi of boost on pump gas, I plan on doing a high flow exhaust and intake setup along with a lower temp thermostat to help cool things down. My 3AT only has 60k miles on it and was just recently put in (replaced the origional 102k unit that had a front diff failure) How do you think a good condition and well maintained 3AT would hold up to some more power? Thanks in advance.

Steveman09
Thanks, I looked under there and didnt see much except a CAT in the middle of the car and up by the turbo some kind of huge bulky CAT looking thing that says SUBARU on it with lots of heat sheilding, I'm going to look some more later on. subaru_styles
one of the things that looks like a cat is really a resonator
Steveman09
ahhh I see it now, wow thats a huge resonator! After driving around all day with the muffler removed I love it! I also got some more air into the air box, I'm noticing a slight increase in mid-range power The sound is perfect too, not too loud at all, nice and deep growl. I just got done installing my HID Headlight kit and putting my stereo system in. I'll post some pics soon so you guys can check it out.
torxxx
I'd swap the tranny's between the cars.. put the 5 speed in the turbo and the AT in the loyale.. Auto tranny's rob lots of power
Steveman09
I would except the Loyale is 2WD If I could find a 5-speed 4WD tranny for the Turbo I would do it.
calebz
Shouldn't be too hard.. your in the NW.. Soob central.. I happen to know that 4WD soobs do grow on trees there..
MilesFox
any 5spd tranny will do, as long as you have allt he right pieces that go with it. non turbo trannies will have a lower final gear (3.9), it will work good for off road or quick start type situations. the turbo gearing will give you better highway economy(3.7) make sure you would have the right gear rear diff for your transmission you will use. 5spd 4wds use a different driveshaft than the AT, but only the carrier bearing (front) half will be different
Turbone
Miles, what about the axles? Remember the splines are different, the turbo axles are 25, and the non-turbo is 23.
MilesFox
oops, forgot to mention... but let it be known that ALL ea82 and EA81 REAR axles are 23 spline.
