Help me decide on an outback

I am looking at 2 outbacks and am not sure which one. The first one is a 96 with 150,000 miles 2.2l and a manual transmission. It is very clean and looks like it was cared for by someone, its for sale at a dealership. The 2nd one is a 99 with 105000 miles 2.5l and an auto transmission the current owner has had it for 6 months and just says he has to many cars. He says the car runs and drives great. Both cars are about 200 miles from me in different directions. I am just looking for some advice on the different years and what to look for when I check them out.
