I think the idea is that is slows and smooths the exhaust flow, reducing the exhaust noise, and perhaps any resonance of the exhaust pipes??? (just a guess, i don't know for sure but a resonator must have something to do with resonance or resonating. either one would make exhaust more noisy.) oddcomp Posted March 8, 2004 Share Posted March 8, 2004 a resonator is just what i sounds like the length and size of the chamber change the resonating frequency <the air vibrations> so its usually softer more burbly sounding instead of sounding like a pissed off chain saw lol either leave it on or off it really does not have a lot of affect on exhaust restriction for more of a idea go look into speaker box port tuning same idea sorta diffrent size vents help cancel out unwanted frequency and tune so others are more pronounced but thats from what i know of it so i may be wayy off base here Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
