eppoh Posted June 21, 2011 Share Posted June 21, 2011 Got the engine of this (*^)&*(^_J(&*Yn project in the car and mated up with the bellhousing (97 lego2.2 auto) only to find the bolts missing in action, Called the Subaru dealer and he could not tell me what sizes they are, but he can order them. I know they are 10mmx1.25 . They must be different lengths. I installed one at the top drivers side that is 100mm long, I think. The ones on the passenger side should be much shorter. The dealer says that two of them are studs. Anyone know the correct sized for these? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There is very little room to get to them between the transmission, steering rack, axles, and cross member all being in the way. Can't you just pull them out of the other engine? johnceggleston Posted June 22, 2011 Share Posted June 22, 2011 i don't know the length off hand, but you should be able to slide a pencil in and measure the length of the hole and buy a bolt slightly shorter. (this bolt holds a thin metal bracket that supports the wire harness connectors.) the driver side top bolt is longer since it also threads thru the starter bracket. the lower studs are threaded in to the engine bell housing. i would be very surprised if they were missing. but maybe...... they would be very tough to remove. much easier to cut off once the engine is out. and i can't imagine why any one would remove them except out of spite. 987687 Posted June 22, 2011 Share Posted June 22, 2011 I've had the nuts stick to the studs and pull them out of the motor, on both sides. And from that experience, i can say you will not be able to put them in without pulling the engine away from the transmission. They came short up against the axle cups.
