ITBandit
I have an EA-81 block thats been sitting for who knows how long without the heads on it, looks like the rust is light and so it could be re-bored. Just wanted some input. opinions, is it worth it to bore out the cyllindars say .2 or .3, and if so where can i find pistons to match the new bore? OR is this block only valuable as scrap metal? Thanks!
coxy
CP pistons.Ross Aries etc will all make custom pistons, and if they are like some of the suppliers in Australia can often supply custom made cast pistons also. The light aircraft engine conversion specialists also supply EA 81 parts.
GeneralDisorder
If the rust is truely "light" then it can just be honed and use normal pistons. Subaru engines tend to need special boring aparatus - a bore plate - to prevent them from being bored incorrectly and having the cylinder liners spin after being put into use. Crazyeights
Thompson Engine These guys sell oversize piston sets including rings that will work in the EA81 (look them up for EA82). Prices are good too.
