Sonicfrog
Murphy, the $ 500 87 Turbo Wagon, needs both front and back catalytic converters. I live in California, and they are impossible to find. There are tons of after-market ones on line, but, of course, they DON'T sell them to residents of California, because, California has SPECIAL LAWS that restrict which ones you can put in, and, when you CAN find them, the California approved ones are, of course, THREE TIMES AS EXPENSIVE!!!!! I swear, on a daily basis, I seem to be asking myself... Why do I still live here??? I'm probably going to sell my Murph.... But I would like to have it in top running condition and get some money for her. Oh, and I just had to have new tires put on right before the rear cat melted into a ball, blocking the exhaust. So I'm out $ 400 + bucks! Edited July 9, 2011 by Sonicfrog
El Presidente
Crap! If you posted about a month ago I could have sold you both cats in great shape off a CA 86 GL wagon. Will non-CA cats pass CA emissions? If they do, you could have them ready for pick up at a out of state parts store and make the drive to get them. Sonicfrog
But will that be California legal????? Will it pass smog????
Quidam
Whether or not it will pass would depend on whether they allow Genuine Subaru Cats to be put on the car. It will have one bung for O2. Not much else to it. The cat is worth $90.00 scrap, btw. Doug
Caboobaroo
I'm not sure if there is a difference but I'm scrapping the drivetrain in my '89 RX and have the cats you might need.
