Bdubya
Hello everyone! I am hoping someone can help, I have a 90' Subaru Loyale with a saggy rear bumper. I crawled around under the car to find how it was attached all I saw was screws that seem to just connect the bumper to the bumper cover. I searched Hi and low for a repair manual, only found for engin and electrical. Could someone please tell me how to detach / reinstall bumper? Many Thanks, Brian
TheLoyale
If its a wagon, open the rear gate, and then lift up that little "Smugglers hatch" in the floor, you will see 4 rubber plugs (2 per side) there is a 14mm bolt behind each of those plugs. Remove them, and the entire bumper will pull aay from the car. If its a Sedan, you will need to pop off the interior inside the trunk, then you will see the 4 14mm nuts which hold it onto the rear roll pan. -Tom
Bdubya
Thanks Mr. Loyale for that awesome info, I would have never guest that was under the plugs. Are these the only bolts that hold up the bumper? It seems like there should be a bracket of some sort under the tail lights, there are 2 holes in the bumper... Ps it is a Wagon.. Thanks again! heartless
nope, thats it, just those 4 bolts. the "bracket" is in integral part of the bumper itself - you are unbolting the bracket from the subframe of the car.
