ssweb
I have the standard cloth seats in my '96 outback. I have thought of upgrading to a newer model for the convience of leather seats. (I am doing a lot of driving and feel the seats would be more comfortable. It is my understanding that leather seats were not made for the '96 model year. I realized recently that they may be interchangable from a newer year. Can anyone verify if this is possible. I thank you and my butt thanks you. hb_kim
Are you sure leather seats are more comfortable? They look nice & are resilient to stain but I don't think they are more comfortable, if that's what you want. The only reason I opted for leather seats was that I collect so much static with fabric one, getting zapped when closing door.

They will not be any more comfortable, cloth or leather have the same exact seat structure and padding, only difference is the cover being cloth or leather
FillG
I don't know if leather ones are more comfortable but I put over 3000 miles on my 98 Legacy OBW during a 5 day period last year (1062 miles in 1 day!) and my butt never got tired and my back didn't hurt. I can't sit on my sofa for that long without one of those things happening so I'd say the leather seats are definitely very comfortable. Is the cover the only difference between the leather and cloth seats or do they have different foam and springs too? I wasn't sure if you were talking about changing out the whole seats or just the outer cover.
superclock
I just got some leather seats from a '98 legacy and they dropped right in to my '96 Legacy GT. I definitely think the leather seats are more comfortable and supportive.
ssweb
Were these seats new or used
superclock
They were used from a salvage yard. They dropped right in.
