So I am replacing my clutch this saturday with the help a friend who owns a garage. I was wondering if I should buy the TO bearing repair sleeve thing since it is my TO bearing that is failing. I have noticed a lack of power in first immediately after releasing the clutch but this may just be in my mind/due to my lack of experience with a manual (learned in this car a few months ago). Other than that not really any noticeable vibrations. Is there any thing I could look for to hint that this may be the problem?

Year, Model, and Mileage needed.

The sleeve kit like this?

Needed if the 'snout' on the trans is worn on the left - like this:

Only needed if damaged, but won't know 'til you have it apart....won't hurt to install it either way..just extra $$.

I used a couple and they work fine, but can't state whether it'd help a performance/power issue.

Yeah thats the one. I have a 99 legacy outback. I was just wondering if thats what they were talking about when they said uneven clutch engagement was a symptom. Its kind of like the feeling you get when you try and pull off in second from a near stop.

Any issues shifting into 1st or Reverse since this issue started? I recently had a pressure plate fail and when the PP failed the clutch didn't totally disengage.

I initially replaced the TO bearing, slave, clutch MC, pilot bearing...didn't fix it...replaced the PP/clutch disc and was good to go.

No problems that I have noticed. Sometimes it takes a little force but not often. My main problems are a loud chirp that goes away with any pressure on the clutch pedal and grinding noise when I press the clutch or in neutral at high rpm.
