Once the body work is complete she is getting a canary yellow paint job with black everything else. OUCH! i just bought 4 brand new sealed bearings for my two front wheels for $36 on amazon. I had them install the bearings too. I installed a new cv half shalf with a new wheel hub, and the weird thumping soudn didn't go away. I was stumped and took it in. nepppen Posted July 26, 2011 Author Share Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) While I was waiting for parts to arrive from Japan I detailed the engine. I got into the nooks and crannies with q-tips. It is nice to work on the engine without getting covered in grime. If something leaks it is easier to identifly the problem. I cannot get the air compressor to work though. I hard wired the pump to the battery and bumped it. The compressor will not start using the dashboard controls. Any help is greatly appreciated. I dont know why you didnt quote the whole line, it included labor. And the total isnt all that bad really. I installed all new green o-rings into the ac lines. The compressor will not start using the dashboard controls. Any help is greatly appreciated. Theres a micro switch on the drivers side heater box, just in front of the gas peddle. nepppen Posted July 28, 2011 Author Share Posted July 28, 2011 I am bound and determined to have my Subie's climate control system functional. I thought I installed all new green o-rings in the AC lines. I missed two in the passenger side evaporator coil. I cleaned out the evaporator coil as best as I could without running a fire hose to it. The two missing o-ring connections on the evaporator coil: The cover that forces air through the evaporator coil and into the remaining duct work was broken in the rear. I am sure someone became frustrated and just ripped it out. The reapir is as follows: First I used aluminum duct tape to seal the plastic housing. Second, I used part of a two liter plastic bottle to reinforce the tape. After installing the plastic I sealed the other side with additional aluminum tape. I did not worry about wasting tape and overlapped my horizontal and vertical seams. Tomorrow I will install suitable condensate insulation.
