AdventureSubaru
Car in question is a 2000 Legacy Outback. A little while ago the blower stopped working. I checked all fuses and wiring and everything was fine. Tried replacing the blower motor itself today and still nothing. I have tested in all 4 speeds and nothing gets it spinning. Any ideas on where to go from here? I now have 2 good blower motors that I can't get spinning. It's warm and would love the A/C back again. Thanks! Cougar
The first thing to check is the fuses and make sure they are all ok under the hood and the dash. If those are ok then you should move to blower relay and make sure power is getting past it. You should see power getting to the motor if those things are ok and the wiring up to that point. If you do have power to the motor you should be able to manually turn the blower on by grounding the other side of the motor connection. If the blower turns on then there may be a thermal protector blown out in the resistor pack or there is a problem with the wiring to the speed seclector switch or the switch itself. AdventureSubaru
Okay. I'm halfway there. I did find a bad fuse inside the dash. The blower is functioning correctly. Now every time I turn the A/C on though, the fuse blows. Tried up to a 30 amp with the same results. Safe to say there's probably a short somewhere. Any good places to start looking? Cougar
Check the wiring to the compressor under the hood for a problem.
