81EA81
Hey, later today I would like to tow an 85 Brat about 7 miles. I tore the front end off and knocked out opposing studs to mock up some 33s awhile back. Im just curious if anybody has ran aroung with only 2 lugs holding on the wheels. It will have the original tre size on it and im not planning on reaching speeds excess of 45, oh yea I lost one of the strut mounting bolts too. Just one tho. SAFE OR NOT SAFE IS THE QUESTION? 81EA81
I thought I saw miles fox in one of his trashwagons back in the day running 2 lugs per wheel but I cant say for sure. I found the Strut nut but I cant find the wheel studs:mad:
WoodsWagon
I've driven like that. Safe? No... but it worked. You'll be fine towing it for 7 miles. If a wheel falls off, just give the tow rig more throttle, it'll get there.

wallaby
did this last week with my "new" brat tried to change the tyre, one stud broke off, 1 turned on the knurl so i aired up the tyre and dolly towed it about 50 miles with a dodgy tyre and 2 - luckily opposite - wheel studs, no problems at all

Numbchux
It would probably work. The PO of my brat did a 6-lug conversion, but the new studs he used were too long, so the nuts would bottom out on the threads before they touched the wheel. So basically 2 studs per side. That said, I don't think he realized that those 4 studs weren't really doing anything (although, I suppose if the 2 that were working broke, the other 4 would prevent anything catastrophic). I do not intend to drive it, at all, until it's fixed. IMHO, if you've got 4-lug wheels on it anyway, the cost of 4 more studs to bolt them on properly would be some pretty cheap insurance. Uberoo
I went offroading once and blew a tire, and a friend in a chevy let me borrow his spare stock wheel.knocked two studs out and drove home 30+ miles with it like that no problems... I drove my offroader for 2 years with a missing stud on drilled rims...on the back wheel.. Edited August 4, 2011 by Uberoo
ShawnW
Locking thread. You know its not safe. Don't risk the lives of other people or your own with this idea. Fix it before towing it or have it towed by a tow truck.
