Mykeys Toy
About once a year or so my front end eats an axle either by pulling the boot off the joint area or by tearing it.. So I took a look at it the other day and looks to be a pretty harsh angle on the axle. I am curious to know how high my 86 hatch should be off the ground and where it is measured from ( bottom of steering knuckle or from the oil pan etc.) Mike
mcbrat
Mike, do you have the suspension adjusted all the way up? MtnGrizzly used to eat axles about the same, more often on the right side too, where the exhaust heat can affect the boot.
Mykeys Toy
I haven't ever adjusted the suspension that is why I asked. I am pretty sure it is cranked up but, I wanted measurements to verify that b4 I go and pull the fron wheels off. Thanks Mick
bratman2
Should be 10.6-11.6-inches with 185-70-13's properily inflated on level surface. This is measured to the center of the lower "A" arm through bolt. If in doubt i would drop it all the way down, I believe that is how they came from the factory. I had the same issues as you, eating up boots, suspenion was topped out. You should be able to easily tell that without removing tires, adjusting nuts are front and rear on the front struts.
