Durania
Fit yes. Think you just need to make sure that both engines are EGR or non-EGR. You will also need to swap intake manifolds.
86subaru
ok, so the wiring is the same ecm ... etc.
987687
2.2 from an outback? So it must be from a 96 outback manual transmission? If it's from a 90's car and it's an outback. It will not work in a 2000 car. The manifold won't swap, the wiring won't match up.
86subaru
the motor is from a 95 sedan put into a 97 outback, , the outback got wrecked, whats involed in replacing the rod bearing in a 2002 forester, Edited August 13, 2011 by 86subaru
987687
It would be much easier just to get a good 2.5 bottom end. It's kind of a pain to replace bearings in these motors.
86subaru
ok, thanks
GeneralDisorder
Yeah - that engine will not easily work in the Forester. It uses a completely different intake manifold setup and will not plug-and-play with the EJ251's harness. GD
