okie mike
ok guys and gals do i have one for you. my 90 model sedan fwd will be going down the road and quite running like you turned the key off you can pull over and it will start back up and it might go a block or get you home. the fuel pump is new the filters are new and here I set. It only does this when the temp outside is hot. it did it last summer but once the fall weather moved in I had no more problems until this summer. I am new at all this retired and live on ssi and dont have alot of money for the replace game. any help I would be thankful.
Olnick
I know how you feel mike. Hang in there--I don't have an answer for you but I'm sure someone who does will chime in.
heartless
just to clarify - everything shuts down? or does it stall out, but electrical items like radio, lights etc still work? if everyhting is shutting down i would be checking main battery cables, grounds, and probably the main fusable links - not just visually, but tug on things, make sure that there are good connections, no broken or damaged wiring... if it is just stalling out, that is a whole 'nother ball game... Fairtax4me
Check engine light? Plug in the black(?) connectors that are under the dash and turn the key to ON, and the CEL will flash any stored codes.
okie mike
I will check and see if i can retrive any codes tomorrow. the check engine light has been on for years. the last few times the car has done this it would act like it wanted to go and it would cough and jerk and I could pump the acelerator pedal and it might pick up and go or just quite. how many sencors are their in this car. thanks all:headbang:
Olnick
Pulling the codes is the best place to start, might tell you everything you need to know. For a how-to look at Post #4 in this thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=125436 Good luck.
