Carl B.
Im trying to put my starter back in after some maintenance that required removing it. I have gotten the wirring mixed up though. There are two heavy gauge wires, one red, and one black with a red stripe. I cant remember where the black one with the red stripe goes. I believe it is a ground. somick
I am at work now and do not remember the set up on my Loyale, but I would measue the resistance on those cables. The one with zero or close to zero ohms would be the ground. Good luck, Sam
Carl B.
I could tell from looking which one was ground, just didnt remember where it bolted down and it had a strange crimp on the end. I just bolted it up at the bottom starter mount and it starts fine. My corner lights and tail lamps stay lighted now but I think thats an unrelated issue. Carl B.
somick, if you could take a look though and see where your ground is grounded I would appreciate it. even though it works I'd like to have it in the proper spot.
92_rugby_subie
Your corner lamps and tail lights probably are on because of the switch above the steering wheel for the parking lights... this has happened A LOT in the past for other people... probably got bumped... Check that.
Carl B.
Wow! Thanks rugby_subie, I was shooting all kinds of wires and getting nowhere. It was blowing my mind but it was just a switch that I had hit.
Carl B.
I remember seeing it and thinking what does this do?... Oh nothing. you saved my weekend because I would have wasted so much time and I never would have thought to go to that switch.
92_rugby_subie
Dont thank me tons of people have done it on here, and Ive read it was a common problem that people just flick it. Im glad, my car, I have to push my knob in and turn it to get my parking lights on with the key not on... So I just dont "bump" it. glad you didnt waste a whole weekend! Enjoy your weekend!
