EA81 to EA82 car

Recommended Posts

What do you think? Ive been looking at an EA82 wagon where they claimed had an engine knock. i was curious so I decided to go check it out. This was honestly the first time Ive really checked out an ea82, Its not as simple looking as an ea81 I have to say.

I first noticed there was no oil cap or radiator cap. :rolleyes:I checked the oil and it was clean. I got the keys and started it up. All I could here was the lifter tick. then I noticed under the right head there was a steady stream of oil:eek:

So I shut it off. I couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from. Maby valve cover gasket? Ive read a bit on the standard reseals on an ea82, oil pump, cam tower o rings.......?

Then theres the timing belt:-\

On top of that I just found an ea81 that is claimed to run for fairly cheap.

So I thought either learn to reseal the ea82,lifters too and have 2 timing belts

Or buy the EA81 that I know a little better and put that in there and have a reliable rig and save the ea82 for a later date.

Opinions?
