bgambino
I have a 2002 outback wagon parts car. I found this under the front passengers seat. Some kind of bass boost for the stereo? Is this worth outting into my 2002 legacy GT...? I mean does it add much?
idosubaru
i've seen them there before and my 02 OBW mcintosh system has the bass boost (amp, whatever it's called) right there as well, so sounds like you're on it. dont' really have any feedback on installing it though. Pooparu
Yes, it's a bass speaker.
idosubaru
Yes, it's a bass speaker. no kidding, that's the actual speaker? i'm fairly uninformed about audio stuff. mine didn't look like a speaker, looked and felt like an amp, but maybe the mcintosh vehicles are different? or they're all speakers, that wouldn't surprise me either given my audio astuteness. subie94
I believe it could be a powered sub (built in amp) cause looking at the wires,it looks like there's power wires and speaker wires (going roughly by the color of the wires being very similar to the color of the wires for dash radio speaker wires)

Winner! You'll be surprised how good it sounds too, I've had a couple cars with them in it and for the size they're pretty nice. I have an install guide for one also. It came in the glove box of my 2000 OB.

Meeky Moose
yes thats the factory powered subwoofer.. was an option... not all cars had them... it will plug into the stock head unit without any problems and work.. the harness plugged in in the pic is the one that goes to the back of the stereo i believe.. just plug it in and see if you like it..
