aeorcf
does anyone know a larger turbo to put on an 86 gl10? i want more power for driving up the rocky mountains...... also, has anyone found a clever place for a real size spare tire? the donut in the engine bay is cracked, old, and i am going to take it out of there..... finally, any suggestions for lifting it? the suspension has been changed to a regular suspension, the air ride was disabled. i have already converted it to a dual range 4x4 (it was auto out of the factory). it is running hot, but working on fixing that ..... bheinen74
" it is running hot, but working on fixing that ....." You have one of the most problematic engines Subaru has made. Trying to get more power out of it with a bigger Turbo has been done but most of them blow up. If you want reliable, you are not going to be happy with a bigger turbo, you will be breaking all kinds of stuff, even when done by following the book on this. You simply don/'t have a reliable engine to consider doing mods on. You are running hot because that is a sign of eminent failure. Not sure how you are planning on fixing it, but best thing would be to scrap the ea82t engine and swap a ej22 in there. Or if you choose, then bigger turbo = bigger kaboom when it does let go. Crawlerdan
the legacy vf11 and even the wrx tdo4 are great upgrades, but in the end, adding power to that engine is going to make a bad situation worse. i agree with the above- an ej22 is an easier, more reliable, and more powerful upgrade
GeneralDisorder
If you are set on using that engine - the first step is to go to the dealer and order EVERY coolant hose used in the engine bay. Then get a dual-core or larger radiator, an intercooler, and DO NOT turn up the boost. GD
roostema4328
You probably will find out later that you have a blown head gasket. lol thats what is wrong with mine right now. so it is parked until I can get all the parts together to do a swap.
