biggreen96
That is the little rubber block the EJ shift linkage rides on, but the drive shaft is so close to the body that there wont be room. I had planned to bolt it on or weld it on but that idea is nixed now. I take it most swappers are using the EA linkage, will there be enough room for that even? Does my driveshaft look like it's in the right place?
Subarutex
I took some 1" straping and bolted it through the existing holes at the back of the shifter hole. Yes, it is very close... but I had no problems.
biggreen96
HELL YES. Thank you for that. I'm going to try to keep some rubber in there (it's a DD for a friend of mine) , but your idea has fueled the fire.
Subarutex
Another thing you could do, if the driveshaft is closer than you'd like... Throw a couple of washers in between the trans mount and the body. Drop the whole tranny 1/16" to an 1/8".
biggreen96
We plan to lift it sooner than later so we can deal with the tight fit for a lil bit longer. Thanks!
Gloyale
I am assuming you mean for using an EJ trans in an EA car? I shortened my EA shift linkage and stay each by about 2".
