390Kw impreza
Hey everyone, First time posting Recently i renewed all (most) of my vacuum lines. Due to the orginally ones were stiff and i was able to snap them like a twig. Unfortunately now, My boost gauge wouldnt read correctly. It was reading 12vacuum and wouldn't read boost. So i bought a new gauge, was working great, but i was cleaning my IAC Valve, and (lol) i dropped it, and broke the magnic, that is at the top. Bought a new IAC Valve, but noticed the numbers were different eg. 16YH, and the new one was 20YH. So i put it all together. Found my car was Idling at 2000rpm, and kept on rising. Also, my boost gauge isn't reading (might be seperate) Would the IAC VALVE be making my subi Idle like crazy? PLEASE HELP
danbennett2u
Since nobody else replied, I imagine if the only part that was changed was the IAC and it has different part numbers it is likely that is what is causing the idle issue. Let me make sure I have this correct though - you changed the vacuum hoses, it ran fine, then you cleaned the IAC afterwards and it broke, and with the replacement it idles high? If that is the case I would try to find another IAC that matches. if it started idling high right after replacing the hoses and it never idled right between hose replacement and IAC replacement then logically I would think something is messed up with the vacuum lines. sorry if that doesnt help much but I think it really depends on exactly when it started idling bad. john in KY
Make sure all the vacuum lines are attached. You may have caused a vacuum leak somewhere.

390Kw impreza
Hey Everybody, Thanks for all the posts. But after a wee bit of time spent under the bonnet (reminds me of when i built my engine) Found the issure. was the TPS ( Throttle Position Sensor ) Was slightly moved, hence making the engine Rev, but not indicating it to the ECU. So hopefully this feedback helped anyone else that this comes across. -- For future people -- On my WRX STi. My TPS is located to the left of the IAC Valve. it is screwed on ( 2 Baby screws ) to the throttle body. and has a plug coming from it, going under the TMIC. usually it is Semi Circular, and Black. hope this helps! EDIT -> gauge wasnt reading, because the vacuum line running into the gauge was being cut of by itself (bent) So got that sorted.
