subaguy
Does anyone know if the cyl. head can be removed without taking the engine out? I had to rework the heads once and took out the engine to do so. I have an oil leak now and not sure if it maybe the head gasket or the valve cover gasket or? Am going to do further checking to make sure of what it could be. This is an '88 GL with an 1800 ohv engine.
moosens
Yes,but just more difficult.Helps if you have the little plate the dealer techs have for lining up the head. You might be able to borrow one if you ask you local dealer.Good luck. Always best to take the engine out. When you get to know the lines, etc it's real easy and worth the effort.Even at first time,as long as you have time, you can get all the connections right with a little tape and a marker. The OHV engines are much easier than the OHC's -when in the car.
subaguy
That sounds about what I had figured. Didn' t know about a plate. It took me awhile in spare time when I reworked the heads as it was due to marking the wires and hoses. The rest wasn't bad. Thanks for the reply.
