AKghandi
ok i got a 87 gl-10 wagon turbo 5 spd the guy i bought it from put a dual range tranny in it. the rear axle seems to have a different ratio it says 3.70 my question is what ratio does the dualrange have? its a fwd 4hi 4 low selectable. the car seems to fight itself on pavement im wondering if this will cause problems aside from winter and camping i dont use 4wd but also if the rear ratio is higher wont the rear kick out easyier?.. im rambling. any responses will be greatly apprieciated. capn_r
Your transaxle final drive ratio is most likly 3.90. Fortunately that ratio is more common than what you have and it should be easy to find a rear differential.
obk25xt
ya, they're different. the dualrange is 3.9 final drive. you need to swap the rear diff out for one with the same gear ratio to run in 4wd. the 3.9 rear diffs are abundant and shouldn't be hard to source.
