DOJ roll pin Q

Recommended Posts

No...

Just go to the dealer and spend the couple bucks to buy the correct ones. Many times have I seen aftermarket roll pins break off in the stubs while removing them, and that's using the correct tool!

I actually have about a dozen of them in my toolbox at work and also keep new ones in stock.

How long are the 3/16" roll pins in the half shafts? I found 3/16" pins at work, in 1" and 1-1/2" lengths and thinking of grabbing them as 'insurance' for when I do the bearings....

They are 5 mm x 45 mm. I had the same idea (using Standard) as you when I first started working on these cars and as Caboobaroo said they are not an option.

Dealer or a Subaru mechanic will also probably have a box of them and will sell you a few.

Most aftermarket axles do come with pins but they're not usually as exact as the OEM ones. OEM axle pins are made to work over and over again (which is probably cut in a zig zag form) versus the aftermarket ones which are straight cut and squish more then compress.
