mattyice
I just got my 85 GL running. 500 miles later, I started smelling fuel and soon discovered that fuel was pouring out the bottom of my vapor canister. As far as I can tell the fuel pump is connected properly, as are the intake manifold and the vents to the vapor canister. Any help is appreciated. SoobDood05
Hi, Well alot of people would say you dont need the EVAP System IF its carburated, just cap off the EVAP and EGR lines etc.. (i will let someone else further explain that process) If you must remove the cannister, you should vent both lines to atmosphere if i am correct. otherwise Cannisters are very easy to replace, and dont go bad very often, Someone correct me if i'm wrong.. hope this helps! Numbchux
This happened on the '86 wagon I had a few years ago after the EJ22 swap. I noticed that when it was happening, that the fuel tank was VERY pressurized, and if I left the filler loose it stopped. I came to the conclusion that the vapor separator was gummed up. Oddly enough, by leaving the cap loose for a couple weeks, and capping off the vent line where the gas was coming from. The problem resolved itself....
