Idasho
So let me guess... Somebody was stupid enough to try to tow a 3k lb car on a 2k lb with a Toyota mini truck???
bheinen74
kindA unlucky after i read the deal. apparently he borrowed or rented the trailer for hire, and something on the trailer hitch broke , leaving part of the trailer neck attached to the hitch ball, but separating from he remaining trailer. and all he was hauling the car for was to fix a differential. Now it looks totalled (the car and the trailer). the Toy only had damage to the bumper, tail, and side panel. oh ans that car is over 4k pounds btw
Idasho
the curb weight of an SVX is NOT over 4k lbs. Unless he had 500+ lbs of junk in it....
bheinen74
yeah 3675 lbs but maybe he had extra trans in the back of it. then that wold be 4k
Red92
Ouch! Do you have a link to the original site? I'm wondering how it was originally loaded... if it was facing backwards, it is very possible that there wasn't enough weight on the hitch... or perhaps it was loaded facing forward, but the car was too far forward on the trailer and there was too much weight on the hitch? Either way, what a mess. :-\ Doesn't look like the tie-downs did their job either.... is that just rope??

GeneralDisorder
Lets all say it together.... "PRE-TOW INSPECTION!" There's no such thing as bad luck. Proper inspection of the trailer and it's hitch probably would have shown worn out/rusted/cracked/fatigued components and this could have been avoided. If you rent a trailer - buy the insurance! MilesFox
too rear heavy, withthe car loaded backwards. This leads to trailer sway. Do not load cars backwards on a trailer, unless you can do so with at least 60% of the load ahead of the axle onto the hitch. Trailer sway is almost un-correctable, unless you are that good that you can accelerate and brake alternately with the oscillation of the trailer to bring it under control, while slowing down, which the slowing down part makes it almost impossible.
