Deb Norton
Question, seems like every year I have to replace the tie rod, any suggestions why that is. What am I and the mechanic missing?
porcupine73
What kind of parts are being used? If they're cheap Chinese made stuff from the parts store they might not be as durable as the originals. Do you drive over a lot of rough ground, potholes, or do any drifting? Deb Norton
Hi, Thanks for responding. Each time, I'm told they put in Subaru parts. But yes, we live on a dirt, rock road, and rock driveway.
MilesFox
They are probably going on the condition of the boots, as the tie rod ends are not serviceable. The boots are pressed on, and there is no zerk. The mechanic is erring on safety in recommending replacing them, but they would probably go for a lot longer if left be, if the boots are intact. But at the same time, you let a part last too long, and it becomes rusty and corroded and more impossible to service, where more parts will need to be replaced because it broke coming out.
