nu2subaru
Can anyone give answers to the two following questions? 1) I was going to change plugs in my sons 99 Forester. Had a heck of a time even getting the boot off the plug (twist -pull) but the problem /question came in when I tried to remove the plug. I gave it about an eighth of a turn and it didn't feel just right so I gave it another 1/8th. Just doesn't feel like it is getting looser like it should. Went ahead and tightened it up instead. Scared it may be screwed up. Wondering if this is typicle. 2) Does anyone know what the wheel lug torque spec is? Thank you for the help.
mdryan
Spark plugs can feel that way, and you're probably okay. With an aluminum head it's best to remove the plugs when the engine is warm. Reinstall in cold engine. I would also use anti-seize on the spark plugs when reinstalling. Good Luck

You're going to have to change the plugs eventually, no matter the condition of the threads. Assuming the threads turn out to be OK, tighten the plugs to 15 ft-lb (12 ft-lb if you put oil on the threads). Tighten the lug nuts to 58-72 ft-lb. It's best (and recommended in the factory service manual) to tighten in 2-3 steps.
nu2subaru
Thankx, I also did a search and decided to go ahead and remove the 1st one. Guess I was just being too cautious. Looks OK. Thank you to all for the help. John
