BRIK456
OK, so i have a 1981 GL wagon 1800cc with hitachi carb, i love this car, have rolled it twice and it still drives down the road just fine. Anyways just yesterday i picked up 3 EA82 engines for $150, one is totally complete and single port fuel injected (the guy i bought it from claimed it ran when he pulled it), i compression tested it and has around 135-145 PSI in all 4. Ok, so the other 2 engines are dual port, but are almost completely stripped, pretty much just short blocks. One of the two is a turbo engine, i have turbo manifold/downpipe, compressor and intake mani and all the piping. So my question is, should i just throw in the single port fuel injected motor that is complete or rebuild the turbo motor and throw that in, or perhaps can I use one of the ea82 intake manifolds on the my ea81 and keep it carbed with a weber perhaps? i have all the parts to have a running engine minus ECU's. A local junk yard has the N/A or turbo one for $40. Any insight or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
ferox
Convert your ea81 to SPFI.
MilesFox
build the spfi heads onto the mpfi non turbo block to get 9.5 compression. then you can use the spfi or a carb manifold with weber.
