well ive already replaced this tailshaft housing gasket on my 4eat.

(btw 95 leg wagon ej22)

it lasts for like a week then starts leaking right on the cat. and smoking. im getting so sick of this.

ive made sure everytime that the gasket surfaces were old gasket free and clean. nothing is marred.

the first time i used the "make a gasket goo" and it worked for like a month.

2nd time was factory gasket as well as 3rd and 4th.

im thinkn bout dealing with it leakin for a lil while and saving up to do a 5mt swap......

any thoughts?

or suggestions?

like i said im at my wits end!

thanks guys!

agreed LOL

i want to soooo bad cuz i miss a 5spd. thats all ive owned until this subaru and a truck.

but first id need a detailed parts list on what i need ( and whether i can buy certain things used and be fine or not)

i know id need a 5mt (obviously)

pedals, clutch plate, flywheel, clutch master and slave cylinder, some wiring has to be done, without getting a new center console id hafta get a short throw shifter, a matching rear diff, mt tranny crossmember, driveshaft for mt for a wagon.

am i missing anything? (pretty sure i am)

any places that have really good prices on certain things?

thanks

Don't forget to get the bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank. The manual ones are much longer. Also I believe the manual EJ's have a different starter where it mounts to the trans is a bit smaller than the autos. When I did the swap on the 92 legacy I have, I had to push start it and drive it home without a starter because I didn't realize this :drunk:
