TPain
Anyone know where I can get an axle shaft for a 1985 GL-10? The OEM are no longer made. Thanks! Edited December 20, 2011 by TPain
MilesFox
you should be able to find an axle. If you have a turbo with a 5spd, or 4spd full time AT, it will be a 25 spline axle. If it's a 3spd AT, it will have a 23 spline axle. If your parts counter man gets confused with listings, since ea81 and ea82 models overlap the same years. just ask for a 1990 loyale, or XT, specify turbo or not, at or not. If its a 4eat 4spd automatic, just ask for a 4spd, since you will likely get the wrong part if the conterman is not familiar with these.
Turbone
Where did you hear that? MWE still has them, so does Napa. I think Bow Wow does too.
TPain
I mean OEM parts. Non-oem are still available. I'm looking for an OEM inner axle...
idosubaru
if you want new: MWE is just as good as OEM without the absurd price. I mean OEM parts. Non-oem are still available. I'm looking for an OEM inner axle... are you looking for the DOJ, parts, or the entire axle? there's no such thing as an "inner axle". so you mean front axle or inner joint? avoiding aftermarket axles is a good move, you may already know that but they aren't close to a 100% success rate, i avoid them. TPain
Yes. The DOJ inner axle joint for an 1985 GL-10 Auto... Or should I have them rebuilt?
idosubaru
\Or should I have them rebuilt?I would call MWE, maybe he'll sell parts if you want to rebuild it. i'd buy an axle from MWE and be done forever. it's the easy 1 stop axle solution to avoid all the aftermarket issues and dealer price$$$$, or unavailability as the case may be. dealing with shipping and core stuff..yep it is a little annoying but not like leaking, clicking, vibrating, exploding to pieces brand "new" axles - issues i've seen multiple times. it's hard to imagine how these aftermarket companies are coming out with such low quality, it's unheard of for any other part. MWE usually has common axles in stock ready to go - which almost certainly means EA82's like you need given they still exist in Denver. the only differences in axles for EA82's (your vehicle) are turbo or non-turbo - all the axles are otherwise identical and interchangeable. auto, manual, FWD, 4WD, AWD, left or right...none of that matters, all turbo's are the same and all non-turbos are the same for EA82. man on the moon
If you haven't found one yet, ask ShawnW. Iirc, he has a guy that rebuilds OEM axles for his shop, and he could probably find you one.
man on the moon
BTW: How did you get a 126 year old vehicle? :-p
87.5ea82txt
I called mwe and they are out of axles for a 87 turbo 4wd xt. They said it would cost $125 to rebuild each axle after I send them mine. I didn't ask, but Im assuming they replace the bearings in them as well?
