mcbrat
so when you say lower the front ill ;ike have to lower engine tranny and what not? right, all suspension mount points and crossmembers (engine and trans) need to be lowered along with a steering extension. and to lessen the bashing/cutting, you'll want to stick with wheels close to the subaru offset. The Peugeot wheels should work.
subaruglkid
oh ok ive also heard about some atv rims that could work. ive also got a set of toyota six lug rims and wondering if drilling the rim or the tire mount(cant think of the word right now)
Cyfun
The hub? Drilling the rims to 4-lug is doable, but I always have a helluva time getting the holes centered properly. Converting your hubs to 6-lug is actually easier, and would be nice in the long run cause then you can mount up any 6-lug rim you want, but you won't be able to go back to 4-lug. subaruglkid
well i was just curious because i figured it would obstruct the structural integrity of the hub making it weak. well there isnt many rims in the standard 4 lug 4x114 i believe so six lugs would be awesome
Cyfun
You prolly mean the 4x140mm pattern, as toyota chevy is 6x139.7mm or 6x5.5in. But yeah, you're stuck with 13" subaru stock rims, or the rare peugeot or subaru 14". Convert to 6 lug and you've got all kinds of 14s, 15s, 16s in aluminum or steel and various offsets. Right now I'm rockin some 15in chevy steelies that I got for like $30. Prolly worth more in scrap, ha! If you get a spare set of hubs, you can always go back to 4 lug, too. subaruglkid
yea and fairly easy to swap. so lowering the engine does the require custom mounts or just moving them?
Uberoo
You just unbolt the engine/transmission crossmembers and insert spacers of required height. Then do the same or blocks 1+ longer at the struts than what you put the engine/transmission at. IE. 2" at the engine 3" at the struts. or something
GeneralDisorder
Find a member in your area with a lifted rig and arrange to go look at it. Much easier than trying to describe how to lift one to someone that isn't even familair with how they are constructed in the first place. You keep asking questions that clearly show you arent even bothering to go look at how the car is put together. One thing is always true of those of us with sucessful lifted Subaru's - we don't ask a lot of questions till we have educated ourselves as much as possible using the search function and going out to the garage and inspecting/measuring. You aren't going to get anything lifted with a keyboard and mouse - we are 4 pages into this post and it's clear you haven't even looked at your car in detail. What's wrong with this picture? Go out to your garage and start tinkering. At the very least crawl under the car and visualize what things have to be dropped along with the engine to raise the body up but keep all your drivetrain geometry intact. This board is here to "help people help themselves". The best advice I can give you is to GET OFF the computer and pick up a measureing tape/welder/ratchet/etc. DO IT. It's been discussed to death.
