zukiru
what are the options? I know the XT6 is 3.9 and I woudl need turbo axles. but is there a fulltime manual non-turbo non XT6 option. I don't care about dual range... but i'll take it... this is from indy's site... I am not sure which of these to look at. also I knew the gearing was shorter on my DL the 2wd has a 3.9 instead of a 3.7 can anybody help me by pointing out which is fulltime.. and maybe telling me what car to look for? 1986 4spd D/R 4WD ea81 3.636 1.950 1.193 0.769 3.583 1.462 3.900 1987 4spd D/R 4WD ea81 3.636 1.950 1.193 0.769 3.583 1.462 3.900 1988 4spd D/R 4WD ea81 3.636 1.950 1.193 0.769 3.583 1.462 3.900 1989 4spd D/R 4WD ea81 3.636 1.950 1.193 0.769 3.583 1.462 3.900 1985 5spd D/R 4WD ea82 3.545 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.780 3.416 1.592 3.900 1986 5spd D/R 4WD ea82 3.545 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.780 3.416 1.592 3.900 1987 5spd D/R 4WD ea82 3.545 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.780 3.416 1.592 3.900 1988 5spd D/R 4WD ea82 3.545 1.947 1.366 0.972 0.780 1.592 3.900 1988 5spd D/R 4WD ea82T 3.545 2.110 1.448 1.088 0.871 1.196 3.700 <- I feel like this is the RX box? yeah? 1988 5spd 2wd ea82T 3.545 2.110 1.448 1.088 0.871 3.700 1988 5spd 2wd ea82 3.636 1.950 1.344 0.971 0.783 3.900 after putting this here and reading it back... I think what I am actually looking for is the single range 87.5 turbo box that isn't listed here... sometimes after I post it just clicks in my head. idosubaru
Full time 3.7's: 87+ Turbo Wagons XT Turbo's with FT4WD (XT's have a some specific shifter linkages 87-89 (per GD below) RX's newer like 2006ish WRX's some have 3.7 too! EA 3.7's FT4WD MT's only came in turbo vehicles so they all have the turbo or XT6 spline shaft counts. if it's going into a car that currently has a non-turbo trans then you'll need to swap inner DOJ's or axles to match the new trans, but that's easy. GeneralDisorder
Fulltime didn't come out till '87. All the 85/86 RX's are part time transmissions with crappy low range. 87 to 89 RX (with diff lock and D/R) 88 and 89 FT4WD Turbo 5 speed's (diff lock but no D/R) Sound to me like what you need is an EJ AWD tranny. Fulltime doesn't have a center VC. Has a diff lock instead. GD Edited December 23, 2011 by GeneralDisorder
