Dj7291993
I'm searching, but I'm only finding wagon stuff. Do any of you know the size of the rear speakers in the coupe? Is it the same as the wagon (I'm seeing 6"x1/2" for those)? I'm not looking for anything fancy (I have a stock deck), I'm just wanting to have stereo again, as right now, my front speakers aren't wired in (the owner before they guy I bought it from put an aftermarket deck in it... and kept the faceplate, and for some reason, rewired the front speakers, well, half of the way), and my left rear went out, so I'm down to one working speaker. It'd be nice to have at least two.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo
I'm not sure about the Location of Speakers on Coupes... Have you removed the Panels to search? ...and for some reason, rewired the front speakers, well, half of the way)... The reason is the Shared Ground between Left & Right Speakers that subaru did... That oddity works on older (Transistors output) Stereo cassettes, but a shared ground makes all the New Stereos (with Digital circuitry outputs) to Stop working as a prevention from a "Short Circuit". In simple words: New Stereos need Fully independent Wirings for each Speaker. I Hope this can Help you with the Proper Wiring. Kind Regards. I had though that, but it seemed weird that it didn't go all the way. Guess you would only have to go to the splice. Well, at least it will be easier later. I haven't pulled it apart yet, as I don't want to leave the panels off for too long. The coupe speakers are right behind the back seats, in the pillars that the seats mount to. I'd have pulled them off already, but they are big panels. I appreciate your input.
MilesFox
you can connect a moder n deck using the common ground schematic. tou connect all your positove leads to each speaker, but just use one negative lead fro the left channel, and one for the right. you will hafe one each front and rear ground unused, just let them hang or tape them off. The headunit itself grounds through the antenna lead.
Caboobaroo
I have 6 1/2" Pioneers in the back of my RX. I don't think I had to do anything to get them to fit either, at least nothing extreme.
Cougar
Newer audio systems use what is called a balanced output to drive the speakers. This means neither of the speaker output leads tie to chassis ground. In order to connect the speakers properly you should replace at least the common ground speaker lead with a lead tied directly back to the proper speaker wires from the deck or run a new pair of speaker leads to each speaker.
