MilesFox
you either have a hatchback EA81, or an 1800 OHC EA82 (this is very imprtant at the parts counter for 85-89 subarus. how does it run when running? we should determne if this is ignition pick-up related, or carburetor solenoid/valve related. someone will tell you to install a weber and be done with it. I your car is a wagon(4door) it has an ea82 1800 ohc engine.
BTMitch
OK it' a 4 dr hatchB ohc, it souns great when it runs, when it runs. like I stated it will start right up . Run OK , If I keep the throttle at 2000 rpm it seems ok but after a min. or two it loses a bit of rpm then briefly surges and then dies. it will start right back up and do the same thing. It will also idle (1k) And will still die but when idling bfore it dies it runs rough before quitting. Thanks for responding Brian

BTMitch
Sure couldn't find any sight glass, nothing but a bunch of vacuum lines, dirt , grease, and I guess it was a carburetor hiding behind all that stuff, heck!! Antways yesterday I added gas treatment for water in the tank along with upper cylinder lube, replaced fuel filter, put battery on charge, and today I pulled off and put most of the vacuum lines back on looking for damaged ones. All looked good. So I started Subie back up so I could move her outta they way so I could pull my Triumph TR7 outta the garage, well wouldn't you now it, she ran like a charm as if nothing ever happened. I think Subies jealous of ol TR7 and decided to behave herself for a while. Anyways I got my fingers crossed for now, I'll drive her and see how it goes.
