Shellhammer13
So lately in Sioux city is I've been noticing something I've never seen or heard of before. There is a newer model Subaru Forrester driving around town. Its black with black 18's. Really cool car but it has an STI badge on it. I see this car alot but Im confused as to whether or not its real?? And what did subaru add to it that would classify it as an sti Forrester rather than I stock Forrester if it is real? AWDfreak
It's not an actual Forester STI, but most likely the 2007 Subaru Forester Sports with STI stickers on it: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/forester/forester2007.html
1 Lucky Texan
yeah, we have one in my area with some aftermarket go-fast bits and STi badges. There might be a JDM Forry STi - not sure.

GeneralDisorder
There was a JDM version at one time. People do swaps all the time. It's nothing new. GD

It's called a Forester XT. The engine is basically identical to an STi engine: a 2.5L turbocharged engine, same internals, same horsepower. The main difference is that the Forester style doesn't have some of the "extra" performance items that the STi does.
Fairtax4me
Probably just an XT Sport model. A good picture of an 08? XT sport here: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/forester/forester2008.html Here's an 07 on cardomain that has been "modded" http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2959346/2007-subaru-forester Edited January 12, 2012 by Fairtax4me
bratman18
Here is mine We never got the Forester STi here, but yes there was a JDM version. Like stated above, the Forester XT comes with a nearly identical motor as an STi. Mine has everything from an STi motor, bolted onto the XT motor to get the same performance. Along with the full 6 speed tranny swap.
Durania
Here is a good example of a JDM Forester STI: http://exchange.goo-net.com/usedcars/SUBARU/FORESTER/700090143720120111002/index.html If the USDM had gotten one, I would have been all over it. Durania
Forester STi gets the 2.5 while the Impreza STi still gets the 2.0, today I learned something.
Fairtax4me
I thought the WRX got the 2.0 and the STIs got the 2.5?
bratman18
I thought the WRX got the 2.0 and the STIs got the 2.5? That's USDM, and only 02-05 WRX got the 2.0, 06+ got the 2.5, along with the 04+ STi
