teckhardt
I have tried to search here for the answer but no luck. I have a '90 Loyale that is driving me crazy with a code 34. I replaced the EGR solenoid but it still throws the code immediatly after its cleared. I can't bypass the EGR with a resistor as I am guessing wont pass smog then. I know the manifold is producing vacuum and the solenoid closes when 12V is applied. Has to be the signal to the solenoid itself. Is there a temp sensor that controls the solenoid? There are no sensors anywhere else in the EGR system that could cause that code? Where to look next? Thanks in advance.
naru
If the solenoid winding is indeed good(nothing else matters for the code) you need to check the wiring between the solenoid and ECU.

Dang, was afraid that was the case. Thanks for the info.
hooziewhatsit
And if the wiring checks out, then it's likely a blown transistor in the ECU that controls the solenoid. I've opened my ECU and traced it that far. Haven't been motivated enough to actually replace the bad transistor yet
