starfox5194
I made of video of a grinding noise that you can hear once I take my foot off of the gas at high RPM. It's very hard to hear unless you have your volume turned all of the way up. There have been times that you can hear the grinding noise even at lower RPM. The car didn't do it when I decided to take the video though. Car is fully warmed up in this video. 95 2.2L EJ22 Legacy outback 5 speed. If anyone can tell what it is or has any ideas let me know. I was able to do it once before just with the car in neutral. If it really starts to act up again I'll take a better video.
Legacy777
I can't access the video at work due to the firewall, but are you sure it's a grinding noise vs. a rattle? Does it occur all the time or only some times? Does it occur while driving and is related to engine rpm?

starfox5194
gotcha, any way I can test for this? There is a broken bolt on the heat shield under the exhaust. Right behind the shifter linkage near O2 sensor. I'll listen again and check to see if that's it. I wonder how I can get that broken bolt out... hmmmm. davebugs
They are a never ending battle. Removel (often tougher than it sounds). Hose clamps. Whatever. My favorite was pop rivets - I thought ingenius. Shove the shaft in and leave the head out.
