lazylegacy2
so I have a 1990 legacy and the front U-joint broke on the driveline, and wondering what other years/models would work for the 90 legacy for replacing the driveline? 1990 legacy LS 5 speed manuel wagon, AWD
johnceggleston
generally speaking, any drive shaft from a 5 speed legacy, 90 - 94. search here and it will return all years that fit: www.car-part.com Edited January 23, 2012 by johnceggleston
Gloyale
Needs to be a 90-94 95-99 are about 3/4" longer.
lazylegacy2
so I found a driveline place that will make a one piece driveline for the legacy will it work? the price for the one piece driveline cost the same as a reman driveline $500+ tax
987687
Personally, I'd just get a used one. They don't fail very often. If you pull your own from a yard make sure there's no play in the joints and you should be fine.
lazylegacy2
yea I would but I all the wrecking yard dont have what I need, so I am going to wholesaleimports.com to order a reman from them
johnceggleston
cheaper to just find a local shop to replace the bad joint in yours.
lazylegacy2
I would replace the broken U-joints if it was just the U-joints that broke, cause when the U-joints broke it also broke the lobes that the joints go in. so in all I am having to get a reman driveline. wtdash
Hi, I can't justify a $500 part for a car worth 2-3 times that, so suggesting you go to 'car-part.com' and do a search. You'll find many options and most will ship for a reasonable cost, too. Also, no offense to Gloyale (his posts have helped me many times), but in addition to being longer, the '95+ also use different bolt spacing on the flange that connects to the rear differential. The extra length is on the front half of the drive-line; the back half is the same (IIRC when I did my 5-speed swap and tried to use a newer drive shaft). And after '92, the drive line/drive shaft was 2 pieces. GL, Td
