Clutch type, no, they were all 3.7:1, you will have to change ratios or buy one that someone has already converted. You are looking for 3.9:1 for the record... obk25xt Posted January 29, 2012 Share Posted January 29, 2012 If you're using it in a lifted off road car you're pretty much wasting your time. The VLSD is designed to work with heat that is generated by friction at speed. Not likely created by motoring around in 1st gear in low-range. Most of them are worn out, or close to worn out anyhow, and are non-serviceable. A converted clutch type LSD would be better, still though you'll likely end up trashing it. The larger tire size acts as a larger fulcrum, the clutches wont "lock" if one tire is completely off the ground. Just weld it and be done with it. obk25xt Posted January 29, 2012 Share Posted January 29, 2012 You won't wear tires as bad as you think. Rotate them every 4000-6000 miles, you won't even notice the wear. I'm assuming (by your board name) that it's a Legacy? If it is an EA series car, pull an axle until you hit the trail, then put it back in. obk25xt Posted January 29, 2012 Share Posted January 29, 2012 I have 2 of them, both need repair.... 1 has bad front diff, the other has bad output shaft gears, take the tail section off the one with the bad diff, put it on the one with the bad tail section, and boom... You're set..... Make an offer via PM, they are located in east Clark county. I can also probly hook you up with a welded diff too....
