Lacquer Thinner in fuel tank to clean the CAT?

Recommended Posts

P0420, 2007 FRSTR 65,000 miles (Wifey's kid hauler).

I'm chasing the code and was wondering if anyone has tried cleaning their CAT with agressive use of chemicals? IE lacquer thinner, or by removing and physically cleaning.

First problem in 65,000 miles so I can't complain but if I gotta buy a CAT I'm gonna be grumpy.

Aren't emission components covered to like 100k?

If you are gonna try anything for "catalyst below effeciency" I've had success with Seafoam through a vacuum line. Makes TONS of white smoke though.

Really? Covered? I will check. That would be very cool.

Well it's not that the manufacturers want to warranty emissions that long. Our friendly government requires it I believe, because the know individuals are say 93% more likely to not get it fixed or try to circumvent it if they have to pay for it out of their own pocket. We all pay for it in the end anyway.

Hey guys dealer said bring it in for replacement. Wow. I am shocked, we are all so conditioned to call the dealer as a last resort!!!!!!!!! Double wow.
