Naked Buell Posted February 14, 2012 Share Posted February 14, 2012 Okay guys. This is for the guys who have changed out their Ea 81 pistons with the SPFI pistons. Is it worth the money for the upgrade??? How much are you gaining???? I just had the heads pressure checked and I had the cam redone for torque. I can get pistons but is it worth the money? Quidam Posted February 14, 2012 Share Posted February 14, 2012 This much I can tell you about it. The SPFI pistons will sit about .040 closer to the head. This reduced quench makes the motor less prone to detonation. There is quite a bit of difference in piston weight between the two, SPFI being lighter.
