95legwagon
ok so my work has a nice set on 16" rims that i want and they have a universal 5 lug bolt pattern...they look like they would fit..... question is.... would 225/60/16 fit on a stock 95 legacy wagon? if not what about a 225/40/16? im worried about the width of the tire hitting either on the spring perch or on the fender liner when the wheel is turned. anybody done this? basically whats the widest tire i can put safely on my car? thanks guys! TheLoyale
You can run a 225/60/16 on a 2nd gen Legacy if you run the Outback struts (As the body of the strut is longer so the spring perch is higher above the wheel. 225 is the widest you can fit unless you run spacers or different offset wheels. As for a Legacy with stock Legacy struts, a 225/40 might just clear the spring perch (Every time maker follow different specs) so one makers 40 could be a 50 etc.. johnceggleston
with stock struts, 205/70/15 will rub. outback stock size, 205/70/15, is ~2 inches larger in diameter than stock leagcy, 185/70/14 or 195/60/15.

ocei77
ok so my work has a nice set on 16" rims that i want and they have a universal 5 lug bolt pattern...they look like they would fit..... The offset has to be about 45 or larger (std Suby is 52-55). Sometimes a 42 will fit. O.

TheLoyale
16" rims. The bigger the rim, the more costly the tire. Edited February 22, 2012 by TheLoyale
95legwagon
not only that but because i need such a low profile tire also..... on tire rack i found that the only 205-40-16''s they have are like $120 n up a tire because they are all super high performance tires..... TheLoyale
Which in result is going to give you a harsh ride, as there is very little sidewall to cushion the bumps. Sounds like you need Outback struts!
johnceggleston
205/50/16 are about your stock size, a little smaller. and 205/55/16 will fit, they are the stock GT size and about 5/8 inch larger than stock.

TheLoyale
this.... x 10 i need outback struts and forester springs..... so i can get the lift i wanted Best thing you can do suspension wise! I had that combo on mine (All New Parts) with Potenza G019s and it drove like a track car, Very little body roll, tight solid, taking 15mph corners at 45mph and throwing it sideways. I swear, it handled like an Impreza, it was outstanding.
