Funky blinker, cut out, tach bounce

Recommended Posts

I just got back into Subies with an 86 Loyale GL wagon, manual trans.

She runs and drives very well, can't believe how tight the shifting still is for 200K.

When you put on the turn signals, the tach bounces slightly and when you have the right signal on, you can wriggle the lever and make the engine cut out or stutter.

It does not stutter/cut out when doing the same thing with the left signal.

I'm not with the car right now so I'm gathering info on things to look for when I get back.

I'm leaning towards the ign. switch out of habit with my Vanagons.

When those switches start to act up, all kinds of weird sh*t starts happening with the van.

What do ya'll think?

Sounds to me like the turn Signal Shifter is Loose, also the contacts... you must remove the Cover from the Steering column to verify the Connections and re-tighten the Screws.

Also check for proper Grounding, maybe that connection is Loose or the Bolt where is placed is rusted, preventing the Good connection.

Good Luck!

Kind Regards.
