dave valiant
Just today while going down the Interstate my Brat stumbled a little and then ran normally. When I say stumbled I mean it lost power and when I gave it more throttle it stumbled worse. It has happened a couple of times again today but it always happened while I was moving.I was dropping a buddy of mine off and it quit at a stoplight and didnt want to start up again. It finally started and was able to limp it down the road and it all of a sudden cleared up and ran fine.It did it one more time right after I left his house and then drove home no problems. It did feel like there was a slight drop in power and if my fuel gauge is reading correctly I've gone 90 miles on a quarter tank of fuel which is way better economy than I have ever gotten before.I recently did the plugs, 8mm wires, cap, rotor, accell coil, fuel filter, and air filter and it has been running great until tonight. This is on my 84 Turbo Brat.If anyone can help me I would be eternally greatful.Thanks,Dave. WJM
Check the air flow sensor connector, and check for anything that might cause a vac leak....and....you might try running some really strong fuel injection cleaner thru it.
speedbump
check that the vacuum advance hose didnt slip off the disty;)
soobme
Yeah, I found with my turbo that MOST of the problems like this that I had could be traced back to vac. leaks.
dave valiant
My Accell took a dump.I put the stock coil back on and she fired right up.No hesitation or sputter. It does kinda suck though, the throttle response isnt nearly as good. Thanks for the suggestions and help guys.USMB for life! subiemech85
just keep your old coil waranty that coil you buy, there are "lifetime" stock ones available a new "cheap" coil is about $10 last time I looked
ThreeEyedBandit
Yeah, keep a spare with you at least. My accel took a crap last thursday on the freeway, started to stumble then just died. Let it cool off and it would fire right up. Got to a place were I could fix it and it wouldnt fire at all. Matt
dave valiant
Thats what happened to me this morning.I was going to work just fine and it sputtered and bogged and quit.It took me half an hour to drive two miles to a buddy's house, and I had to push it the last block.I got off work and put the stock one back on and vroom.I only had that coil on my car for three weeks!I'm gonna take it back and get it replaced put it back on and hope it doesn't leave me stranded again. WJM
why are the accells die'in like so lately?
carfreak85
Lifetime warrenty parts tend to be crap compaired to non-lifetime parts. They are manufactured cheaper so that if they fail, they can be replaced with the same cheap part for free.
ThreeEyedBandit
Mine gave me good performance for about a year then it all ended with a quick exchange of words and a good heaving. Going to try the MSD Blaster coil next to see how it goes. Matt
