bstone
A few weeks ago I noticed the rear defroster light no longer comes on when the switch is pressed. It also appears that the defroster isn't working. I checked the fuse under the steering column and it lights up on both poles. I am open to suggestions of what to check next. 97 OBW AT with an ej22 transplanted into it No codes Edited March 13, 2012 by bstone
Cougar
Some folks have found the wire broken where it passes through the roof and the pivit area of the hatch. It gets stessed over time and breaks.

forester2002s
The rear-window heater is typically controlled by a relay that 'latches in' when you press the heater-button. If that relay failed, then neither the heater nor the light would work. You might try looking for that relay under the hood, in the fuse/breaker/relay box. I'll try to dig around and see what I can see.
Mike104
On my '99 FSM it shows the relay for the rear defrost on the Fuse Block inside the car. Next to the Tail Illumination and Main Fan relay. There is also a Defog Timer in the circuit (no idea where that is actually located though).
